While his brother is off galivanting around the Nexus looking for the next Big Find, Zaltarii is here. Guarding.
Why he does it is anyone's guess. He doesn't appear to get paid (Roahe does, in fact, seem to dislike him) but nevertheless he persists.
Of the unbonded dragons that used to call Fire Ridge Weyr home, Zaltarii took it the most personal when his mentor up and vanished. As a result, he spends a lot of time questioning those who appear to be recorded by Shiiuu. Someday, he's going to find that old black dragon! And when he does ...

For now, though, he's here. Shiiuu doesn't seem to mind him much, and he finds her presence oddly soothing.
